April-May 2023
Another trip to the Khumbu with more money raised by donations from generous folks through out the year. We were able to distribute $3000 to many of the elders in several villages from Thame to Khumjung and Kunde. The folks are so appreciative and it is truly humbling to see how a few dollars can change the life of many. The funds provide rice, and other food staples as well as fuel and bedding to help keep out the cold and cooking. Unfortunately there are always a few that have passed on during the year, but there is always the opportunity to help someone else as well.
The elders are always hopeful that help will come again soon……2024?
April 2022- We visited Nepal and the Khumbu region after raising over $2000 this spring and were able to meet some of the elders we have supported in the past in person. The overwhelming appreciation was astounding and the gratitude from those that we visited was heart warming. Our adventure to the villages of Khumjung, Phortse, Penboche and Tengboche took us to meet over 60 individuals that, with Tashi’s help, we visited in their homes. Some were summoned to meet us at a local lodge for tea and soup and were each given the equivalent of approximately $50 US. This amount would help them buy enough food for the next several months.
We are hopeful to return in the spring of 2023 with more funds to support these folks and many more. Your help is greatly appreciated and every penny raised goes to the Elders of the Khumbu region. Thank you so much to all those that have supported this effort so far!
January 2021-We sent $1000 US dollars, raised by generous donations, to Tashi Sherpa in Khumjung to distribute to some of the more needy Elders in the Khumbu area. They were very appreciative of the extra funds and here are some photos to prove it!
